Keflavík ([ˈcʰplaviːkʰ] (? · I)) is an urban center in Iceland, with a population of about 14,000 inhabitants. It is located in the Peninsula of Reykjanes, about 40 kilometers south of Reykiavik, the capital of the country.

Keflavík was founded in the 16th century and developed thanks to the fishing industry. Due to Keflavík International Airport, built by the United States in the 1940s, tourism has become an important economic resource.

In 1890 Keflavík had 241 inhabitants. The number of inhabitants rose to 314 in 1901, to 469 in 1910, to 510 in 1920, to 838 in 1930, to 1551 in 1940, to 2395 in 1950, to 4700 in 1960, to 5663 in 1970 and 6622 in 1980. In 1989 Keflavík had 7423 inhabitants.
